WHY THIS ROLE IS IMPORTANT:

  • Extract, clean, and prepare data for data science model ingestion
  • Write flexible production-ready code (in R or Python) for different components of the data science process - data ingestion, data manipulation, feature selection & engineering, model training, model validation, and model deployment
  • Test hypotheses, explore, and extract useful insights from large data sets
  • Build innovative models, tools and applications that apply machine learning and deep learning algorithms at scale
  • Review, critical assessment and challenge of models on conceptual soundness, assumptions and limitations, data, developmental evidence in support of modelling choices, performance and implementation
  • Partner with business, and functional groups to provide insightful analytics with actionable paths forward

THE BACKGROUND THAT FITS: 

  • BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, or a related field
  • 1-5 years of real world or research experience in data science dependent on educations
  • Experience or background in model development on a wide variety of domains
  • Understanding of machine learning, e.g.: linear/logistic regression, discriminant analysis, bagging, random forest, Bayesian model, SVM, neural networks, etc.
  • Knowledge and skills in the use of current state of the art machine learning frameworks such as Scikit-Learn, Keras, TensorFlow and Spark, etc.
  • Fluency in SQL, Python or R
  • Strong familiarity with Linux
  • An ability to explain complex concepts across business units, and apply these concepts to solve business use cases
  • Basic understanding of research design and hypothesis testing
  • Desire to work in a highly collaborative environment
  • Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
