General Summary:
Based in the Western Carolina Chapter’s Charlotte office, this position provides leadership for the development, implementation and evaluation of programs and services for general public, individuals with dementia, family members, caregivers and professionals across the State.

Job Responsibilities:
* Manage Helpline services and queue across the State and do all follow-up.
* Manage care consultations for the State (outsourcing to Eastern North Carolina for any in-person).
* Serve as Statewide clinical responder for all Direct Connect physician referrals.
* Recruit and manage Helpline Specialist volunteers across State.
* Recruit and manage Support Group facilitators for Western North Carolina. Serve as primary liaison and resource to volunteer support group facilitators.
* Support and assist with programs and services of the Piedmont region as needed
* Supervise interns.
* Participate in the development and coordinate the delivery of an annual work plan for programs that meet the needs of families and providers in the service area.
* Record all information on program services and statistics in the appropriate Chapter databases in a timely manner.
* Provide leadership and support to ensure integration and coordination of programs and services within the Chapter and with other service providers.
* Cultivate on-going relationships with other Alzheimer’s Association Chapters and aging organizations/agencies at the local, state, regional, and national levels.
* Maintain an up-to-date professional knowledge and expertise on Alzheimer’s disease and other dementing illnesses, aging issues and National/Chapter issues.
* Ensure compliance with Chapter fiscal and program requirements, including preparing any necessary reports for funding sources, the Chapter or the National Alzheimer’s Association.
* Represent the Alzheimer’s Association at public forums, conferences, workshops and media events and function as an advocate representing the Alzheimer’s community.
* Develop linkages and partnerships with other community agencies, organizations and educational institutions.
* In conjunction with other staff, recruit, train and manage volunteers to assist with program delivery.
* Develop and implement new services, programs and training based on assessed needs.

Key Educational/Professional Requirements:
* Undergraduate degree in social work, communications, adult education, gerontology or related human service field. Master’s degree in Social Work or equivalent
* Two or more years’ experience in program implementation, preferably in not-for-profit organization(s), with older persons, family and professional caregivers, and persons with dementing illnesses

* A sound knowledge of dementia and its impact on individuals, caregivers, families, and society
* Willingness to follow directives and implement programs based on the National Association and the Chapter’s mission, goals, and annual operating plans
* Ability to work independently on projects, prioritize work and meet deadlines
* Ability to organize, motivate, and work effectively with people from a variety of socio-economic levels, service provider organizations and the general public
* Excellent written and oral communication skills, including public speaking skills
* A self-starter, and a cooperative team member who works effectively with other staff
* Mature, flexible and adaptable
* Familiarity with service delivery systems pertaining to aging issues in each county in the Area service area
* Ability to travel by automobile and operate a motor vehicle
* Possession of a valid driver’s license and appropriate insurance coverage
* Ability to transport materials to offsite locations.

* High volume of public contact
* Travel by car to attend meetings in chapter territory and by air to attend national meetings
* Work may be stressful during periods of high volume or tight deadlines
